Reports emerged that Rino Romero, a contractual employee of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, and airport ground handlers Rene Cascaño and Jodrel Victorino, were arrested for attempting to swindle Royal Air Philippines. The trio attempted to extort cash out of the airline for special flights by posing as immigration officers and members of the BI. The airline made a complaint to the BI, which then set up a sting with the police to catch them red-handed.
