Ellie Wilson, 29, pleaded not guilty to abuse of position and sexual activity with her then 16-year-old student during a flight home from Africa following a class trip in 2016. Wilson was alleged to have had sex with the boy in the plane’s toilet after consuming large quantities of complimentary alcohol. The jury could not reach a verdict, but despite Wilson being struck off by the National College for Teaching and Leadership, there will be no retrial. Wilson did admit blurring the lines between her professional and private life and that she had been too sociable with students.
