10 AUGUST 2018: SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

Richard Russell, 29, a Horizon Air baggage handler, died after stealing an empty Alaska Airlines plane while it was grounded for maintenance at Seattle-Tacoma International. Russell flew the aircraft for 75 minutes, performing aerial stunts before crashing into a beach on a remote island. Russell did not have a pilot’s licence and it is unclear how he learned how to fly.
