10 OCTOBER 2020: GUYANA

Simeon Wilson, 50, initiated a lawsuit against Caribbean Airlines after 2,000 grams of cocaine was placed inside his luggage whilst it was in the care of the airline on a flight from Cheddi Jaggan International Airport to JFK International Airport in October 2018. When Wilson collected his luggage at JFK International Airport, he noticed a necktie placed on the luggage handle; he was arrested by US Customs when they discovered the drugs. The charges against him were dropped after the prosecution determined that his luggage was tampered when it was with Caribbean Airlines. Simeon Wilson claimed that because of the incident he lost his job, reputation and is often pulled aside by customs when travelling.
