18 AUGUST 2020: PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON

Richard Rasmussen Jordal, 59, is alleged to have stolen a Cessna 150 from Jefferson County International Airport after approaching the owner of a different private plane at the facility and asking to rent an aircraft. The man was reported to the police and the aircraft was discovered to be missing shortly afterwards. The following day, Jordal crashed the stolen plane near LaPush. A US Navy helicopter located the crash site, with Jordal inside the aircraft in a critical condition. Jordal was reported to have died from his injuries on 27 August. He held a student pilot licence and was on bail for threatening to kill a Lowe’s employee on 30 June.
