A Condor flight from Frankfurt, Germany, to Varadero, Cuba, diverted to Halifax after three intoxicated German passengers, Alexandros Moustakas, 48, his son, Niko Moustakas, 26, and Ingo Hieronymus, 54, became threatening and disruptive. Alexandros was handed a 60-day sentence after pleading guilty in court to engaging in behaviour that endangered the safety of the aircraft. Niko Moustakas and Hieronymus also pleaded guilty and were sentenced to time already served of 15 days. Hieronymus was also fined $5,000 (c. £2,870).
