On the 32nd anniversary of the bombing of Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie, William Barr, the US attorney general, announced charges were being brought against Mohammed Abouagela Masud. Masud, currently in custody in Libya, was charged with having built the bomb that blew up the aircraft and of working with Megrahi and Fhimah as a co-conspirator, helping them place the bomb inside a suitcase that was planted on a feeder flight and from there on to Pan Am flight 103.
