23 JULY 2018: SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA

The relatives of the victims of the Korean Air flight 858 bombing in 1987 sued Kim Hyun-hui, a former North Korean terrorist who was sentenced to death in 1990 and then pardoned after it became clear that she had been brainwashed by North Korea. The group of family members, however, launched an investigation into the incident with suspicions that it had actually been organised by the South Korean government to help sway upcoming presidential elections. Kim resisted the efforts of group, calling the investigation “pro-North Korean” and “treacherous” leading to the group suing her for libel and obstruction of business.
