Charl Viljoen, a pilot for Kalahari Air Services, completed suicide by stealing a Beechcraft KingAir B200 aircraft A2-MBM and crashing it into the Matsieng Flying Club at the Matsieng Aerodrome. The aircraft belonged to Major Blue Air and was on standby for a medical emergency company at Sir Seretse Khama Airport. The South African pilot had allegedly got into an argument with his wife, who had supposedly filed for divorce the day before, at the club, where he was an uninvited guest. The club, which was hosting 50 attendees for a private function, was evacuated after Viljoen made low level fly pasts before he eventually crashed into it. The club and air traffic control tower were destroyed on impact, and a fire destroyed thirteen parked vehicles.
