William Max Mahoney, 61, was sentenced to six months in jail for assaulting a flight attendant on a First Air flight from Yellowknife to Hay River in January 2018. Mahoney, who had been drinking alcohol from a smoothie bottle, had stood up and stumbled when the plane landed. When the flight attendant attempted pick up the smoothie bottle, that had fallen alongside Mahoney, he lunged at her to take it back and wrapped his arms around her. Mahoney had previous alcohol related convictions.
