Isabelle Kumar and her family were removed from an Emirates flight from Dubai to France because she had requested that her son, Eli, who suffers from autism, severe learning disabilities and epilepsy, have a window seat with a vacant seat next to it in case he had an epileptic fit. Eli had been cleared to fly by doctors and the family had already completed the first leg of their journey from New Zealand, but Emirates insisted on a medical certificate in order for Eli to fly. After at least seven hours of waiting, the family eventually managed to board a flight to Geneva. Emirates issued a public apology to the family.
