26 JUNE 2018: LEWES, ENGLAND

Uche Ezedinma, 36, was jailed for 14 months and ordered to pay a £140 victim surcharge in connection with an incident that forced a Virgin Atlantic flight from Gatwick to St Lucia to divert to the Azores, Portugal, in January 2017. Ezedinma, who was travelling with his mother, spat at a member of cabin crew, punched an overhead bin, smoked in the aircraft’s toilet and threatened crew. Ezedinma was arrested by Portuguese authorities but released after two hours. Police at Gatwick later launched an investigation into the incident and prosecuted Ezedinma in the UK.
