Tajinder Pal Singh and Satnam Singh were acquitted of charges relating to the 1981 hijacking of an Indian Airlines because the prosecution had failed to prove the charges beyond reasonable doubt. Flight IC423 from Delhi to Srinagar was hijacked on 30 September 1981 and forced to land in Lahore. The hijackers, who were members of Dal Khalsa, aimed to negotiate the release of Khalistani extremists from prison.
