Thirty-seven Sunwing passengers on a party flight were fined a total of $59,500 for non-compliance with vaccination requirements as well as for violating masking rules that were in place at the time of the flight. Videos seen on social media of the charter flight from Montreal to Cancun showed unmasked passengers singing and dancing in the aisles and on seats, some clutching liquor, snapping selfies and vaping, during a time of COVID precautions. Sunwing cancelled the group’s return flight after the videos were seen. Air Canada and Air Transat also refused to book the flight’s 154 passengers on return trips to Canada.
