Uthai Waernbarb, 36, was travelling from Budapest back home to Thailand on 15 June but was informed at his stopover in Moscow that he would have to wait five days for a flight to Thailand. Waernbarb was upset at the news and drank at the airport bar, becoming very drunk; he was arrested. After being released, he lost his passport and belongings whilst roaming the streets and worked as rubbish collector to pay for a new ticket and accommodation, whilst continuing to drink. He was discovered in Khimki City, 17 miles from Moscow, by two residents who took him to the Thai embassy 43 days later.
