The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority reported that immigration officials at Tribhuvan International Airport illegally allowed departure permits to young women, so they could work in Qatar and Dubai on tourist visas, in exchange for money. In Nepal, women under the age of 30 are prohibited from going to Qatar and Dubai to work as maids. On 31 July Immigration officer, Kamal Prasad Parajuli, was suspended on suspicion of abuse of authority. The report found that Parajuli and his team issued approximately 249 illegal departure permits for Rs 2.48 million (£16,760).
