Catalytic converter thefts, like the one shown here in Lakewood, California, are on the rise. Multiple thefts have occurred within close proximity of each other in the same night. Police are investigating. In this photo, a large group is shown pulling up to a home and smashing a resident’s vehicle with baseball bats. They jacked up the car and cut out the catalytic converter. Six suspects wearing dark clothing are seen getting out of two different vehicles. One of them is seen smashing one of the vehicle’s taillights. Another jacks up the car and yet another goes underneath and cuts out the converter.
