Reports emerged that Philip Carolan, 43, who was drunk and abusive towards flight attendants on an easyJet flight from Gibraltar to Manchester in February, avoided jail. Carolan apologised during the flight for his behaviour and claimed that he consumed vodka to help alleviate pain from a medical condition. He was fined £160 and £280 in court costs.
