6 MAY 2018: BANGKOK, THAILAND

A female tourist, Jincai Chen, 39, was kidnapped by a gang of five at Suvarnabhumi moments after arriving from Hong Kong. Chen was led through security and immigration by the gang before being held for ransom. The gang, consisting of four Chinese men and one Thai woman, demanded 15 million baht (c. £348,000) from Chen’s husband, who paid 10 million baht (c. £232,000) before calling the police. Jincai was dumped on the roadside two weeks after the abduction. It is believed several airport and immigration officials were complicit in the abduction.
