An armed man onboard a northbound Greyhound bus in the Atlanta area caused traffic to be delayed in both directions and fear among fellow passengers on 22 March. Greyhound said the bus was bound for New York City.
The man was described as being in a “behavioral health crisis” and pulled out a gun on the bus. The driver of the bus then stopped the vehicle and exited it. Other passengers were also able to get out through a window. No hostages were taken.
A SWAT team from Gwinnet County, Georgia responded to the incident, blocked traffic in both directions and eventually entered the bus. They were able to take the man into custody. Traffic was blocked for four hours causing huge delays in the area.
