Astrophysics Inc., has announced the introduction of its Multi-View CT cargo system for screening medium-to-high density cargo. The Multi-View CT combines multi-view radiographic transmission (X-ray) with 3D computed tomography (CT) to examine complex and cluttered pallets. The system is powered by a 450kV generator that provides contrast screening of dense cargo. The clarity of the Multi-View CT images allows operators to identify threats in any location within the cargo pallet with speed.
The operator can elect to scan one to five passes of a pallet. A single pass produces a scan that generates seven images of the pallet, each taken from a distinct angle. Using this X-ray screening, the Multi-View CT can process up to 60 pallets per hour. To inspect high-density, cluttered, or even non-homogeneous pallets, the Multi-View CT combines image data from five multi-view passes to reconstruct a 3D CT image of the pallet. The image can be rotated on screen, providing cargo inspectors with a full 360-degree view of the entire pallet. Using CT screening, the Multi-View CT can process up to 20 pallets per hour. The first Multi-View CT will be deployed at JFK this summer.
