Israeli aircraft carried out a series of airstrikes across Lebanon, including one near the Beirut airport on November 15.
The southern suburb in the city saw several airstrikes including the one in the Al-Awza’i area near the northern runway of the Rafik Hariri International Airport. Video shows a passenger aircraft taxiing by as the bomb explodes in the foreground.
A Lebanese news agency, NNA, reported that the strikes targeted the areas of Haret Hreik, Baajour and Tahouitet El-Ghadir. Other areas including the Bekaa region, were also reportedly bombed.
The NNA said the Israeli army used banned cluster bombs in targeting the town’s outskirts. The use of cluster bombs in or near populated areas is prohibited under the Geneva Conventions.
The air campaign in Lebanon by Israel began in late September against what it claims are Hezbollah targets, an escalation in year-long cross-border warfare since the start of the Gaza war.
