Man Charged with Murder for Killing Pedestrian by Car in DC

Spiro Stafilatos, 35, fled a Secret Service traffic stop in the District of Columbia and then crashed into a vehicle as well as two pedestrians, killing one of them documents from the D.C. Superior Court say. The incident occurred near the White House on Friday, December 30.

The Secret Service tried to stop the vehicle because the car’s tags didn’t match the vehicle.

A witness reported watching the car come speeding past and then slamming into vehicles and people.

“Car came through at a high speed and started hitting vehicles and pushed them out of the way. Saw a few bodies go up in the air,” the witness said. “It saddens me beyond belief that you can have that disrespect and speed in an inner city knowing that you are being chased.”
