Manchester and Istanbul Airports Select SITA for Airport Upgrades

Manchester Airports Group has selected SITA to implement further passenger self-service technology across the group’s three main airports (Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands). To support this, SITA will provide more than 660 staffed and self-service common-use points at check-in, transfer and boarding across all three airports. At Manchester Airport, SITA will introduce SITA’s self-bag drop in Terminals 1 and 3, where passengers can check in their own bags in under a minute. SITA has also been selected to carry out an upgrade to Manchester Airport’s baggage reconciliation systems, which will allow the airport to better track bags at key points across the journey.
Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport has awarded a contract to SITA to upgrade its Airport Management Solution (AMS). AMS is a suite of integrated software applications designed to effectively manage airport operations from the terminal to the airfield – which will provide Sabiha Gökçen International Airport with access to real-time data to better plan and manage the airport’s operations and resources. SITA will also update the Flight Information Display System that runs on 436 screens throughout the terminals to the newest generation. Additionally, more than 200 common-use terminal equipment workstations – where airlines can share the same check-in and boarding infrastructure – will be upgraded.
