Rohde & Schwarz has announced that its Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT), Quick Personnel Security scanner, the R&S QPS201, has achieved TSA certification. The R&S QPS201 security scanner delivers security screening using safe millimetre wave radio frequency technology to screen passengers for concealed threats, under clothing or on the body, with speed and accuracy. The scanner does not produce an image of the person being screened. When a potential threat is detected, the location of the object is marked on a neutral graphic outline of a human body – preserving privacy of the passenger. Denver International Airport has purchased the QPS201, being the first US airport to deploy the scanner.
