Smiths has received an order from the TSA to supply its CTX 9800 Explosives Detection Systems (EDS) for checked-baggage screening at US airports. The system utilises computed tomography (CT) imaging technology to detect and identify explosives. This order follows a previous $70m order from the TSA announced in June 2018 for CTX 9800 to be deployed at ten airports across the US.
