Thruvision has announced that its people screening technology will be deployed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at select ports of entry. Thruvision’s patented passive terahertz technology is a specialist type of body heat camera which detects items concealed under clothing that block body heat, thereby revealing their size, shape and location – eliminating the need for physical searches or pat downs as authorities can see the items in question, which can range from drugs to weapons, and request that they are removed. The technology can screen up to 2,000 people per hour, emits no radiation, captures no anatomical detail and does not identify age, gender or ethnicity of those being screened.
