Doan Thi Huong, 30, accepted an alternative charge of ‘causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means’ for the death of Kim Jong Nam, the half-brother of Kim Jong Un, that occurred in February 2017. Previously, Huong faced a murder charge which would have resulted in the death penalty. Huong was sentenced to 40 months in prison – and is expected to be freed next month. Huong was accused of killing Nam alongside Siti Aisyah with a VX nerve agent.
