19 FEBRUARY 2019: AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS

The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee arrested two Amsterdam Schiphol Airport baggage handlers, aged 33 and 44 as part of a larger investigation into airport employees allegedly involved in drug smuggling. Drugs had been smuggled onto an aircraft from Africa and South America and, when they arrived into the Netherlands, the employees removed them from the baggage system and passed them on to cleaning or catering staff who then smuggled the drugs out of the airport to the city of Almere.
