Reports emerged that five people were arrested by the Fiumicino Border Police as part of an investigation into corruption involving Fiumicino International Airport. One of the five people arrested was a senior ENAC official. Allegedly, those that were arrested ordered public workers to ignore irregularities. One of the officials that was arrested, a 58-year-old man, was regularly compensated with luxury goods and cash. Two well-known lawyers and other businessmen are being investigated in relation to the corruption. One of the arrested suspects revealed that a 55-year-old businessman made an enquiry about transporting radioactive material.
