A cannister of pepper spray was accidentally deployed during a Hawaiian flight from Oakland to Kahului, sending first-class and premier passengers into coughing fits and causing temporary blindness in some members of cabin crew. The cannister was illegally brought on board by a passenger. The flight had already been delayed 90 minutes due to a teenager and two of his companions having to be removed from the flight in Oakland after accidentally broadcasting a morbid photo of a fake crime scene with what appeared to be a ‘dead’ child-sized mannequin to other passengers’ phones at the gate.
