Steve Smithers, 48, a wheelchair user, was prevented from travelling from Belfast International to Gatwick because a wheelchair repair kit he was carrying was deemed to be a security risk. Smithers was allegedly told by security staff that the spanners in the kit could be used to “dismantle the plane”.
