Michael Christopher Estes, 47, was sentenced to 46 months and two years’ supervised release for carrying an explosive device containing nails, and a shotgun cartridge, to Asheville Regional Airport in October 2017. Estes left the explosive device outside the baggage claim area and stated it was a training scenario for federal agencies to be better prepared against terrorists.
