9 JUNE 2019: REYKJAVIK, ICELAND

Turkey’s national football team claimed to have been disrespected after they were held in customs for hours and their bags searched more than once when they arrived at Reykjavik airport for a Euro 2020 qualifier match against Iceland. When the Turkish captain answered questions from reporters outside of the airport, a dishwashing brush was placed by his face as a microphone (see photo). The Icelandic government claimed that the security search took an hour and twenty-three minutes because the team travelled from an airport that did not have similar security procedures to Iceland.
