Delta Named One of the Most Innovative Companies by “Fast Company”

For the fourth time in six years, Delta is one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies worldwide, the annual list that highlights businesses at the forefront of transforming their respective industries.

“The best travel companies of 2023 are anticipating the changing desires of travelers,” says Fast Company’s Stirling Kelso. Delta took the No. 8 spot in the travel category, recognized for “hyper-personalizing airport wayfinding” with its Parallel Reality experience and for leveraging innovation and technology throughout 2022 as the airline debuted once-in-a-generation facilities at New York-LGA and Los Angeles International Airport.

“This recognition from Fast Company reinforces Delta’s commitment to customer-first innovation as we seek to make the future of travel personalized, seamless and even more enjoyable,” said Allison Ausband, chief customer experience officer . “We remain focused on addressing what matters most to our customers and delivering an unmatched customer experience through state-of-the-art airports, digital experiences like Delta Sync, continuing to advance the Fly Delta app, leading global partnerships and of course, the Delta people, who make it all possible.”

Delta debuted its Parallel Reality experience at Detroit Metropolitan Airport last June, bringing to life a technology that was first previewed at CES in 2020 and developed in partnership with startup Misapplied Sciences. Parallel Reality, which allows multiple people simultaneously looking at the same display to see their own uniquely personalized content, is a powerful and simple-to-use step forward in personalizing the customer experience. After passengers opt into the experience by scanning their boarding pass, multi-view pixel technology directs different-colored light to specific viewing zones, which allows multiple people looking at the same display to see personalized content like gate or baggage claim numbers.

Elsewhere, Delta says it continues to build airports that are comfortable, easy to navigate and part of an effortlessly connected journey, capable of absorbing and supporting new innovative experiences as technology evolves. Last year, Delta unveiled brand-new, technology-forward terminals at New York’s LaGuardia Airport and Los Angeles International Airport.

Delta was named to Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in 2021, 2019 and 2018.
